New B.Ed Programme Approved
We are pleased to inform you that we received notification from the Council on Higher Education (CHE) that the B.Ed. (Foundation Phase Teaching) programme has been accredited. The qualification has been listed by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF), and has been registered by the Department of Higher Education & Training (DHET).
This has been a long-awaited outcome on our part and we are grateful to the Lord for answering our prayers and rewarding our efforts. With this, Helderberg College is now able to train Grades R – 3 educators for the Southern Africa Union (SAU), other territories within Southern Africa-Indian Ocean Division (SID), and to those who are interested in obtaining a qualification in this field.
The accreditation of a qualification by the CHE is a rigorous process, conducted by a committee consisting of senior academics from both public and private education institutions, Higher Education Quality Committee (HEQC) members, and representatives from the Department of Higher Education & Training. We are proud to have met all requirements for the full accreditation of the programme.
While this is indeed a moment to rejoice, we continue to solicit your continued prayers for the success of further programme applications that will be submitted in 2018 as part of the institution’s strategic plan to increase the number of academic offerings.
It is our objective to register the first cohort for the B.Ed. (FPT) programme in January 2018, and applications are now formally open. More information about the programme and its admission requirements will be provided soon.
