Celebrating 125 Years

Celebrating 125 Years

Happy Founder’s Day to Helderberg College of Higher Education!

Founded in 1893, HCHE is celebrating 125 years of Christian education this year. The College was founded on February 2nd, 1893 as Claremont Union College. The College changed locations in 1919 and again in 1928 in an attempt to follow more closely the philosophy that has motivated this institution. From Claremont Union College, to Spioenkop College in KZN, and then finally resting on the slopes of Helderberg Mountain in Somerset West, the College remains steadfast in its mission to deliver quality value-based higher education within the context of Christian educational philosophy.
Today, Helderberg College of Higher Education is evidence of the fruitage of seeds sown by the pioneers, both staff and students. The institution of higher education gives honour to the pioneers who established this institution 125 year ago, expressing admiration for their achievements.

Happy birthday, Helderberg College of Higher Education. Here’s to the next 125 years!
